Last weekend saw The 39 Club descend into Windsor at the Sir Christopher Wren Hotel for the annual Banquet weekend celebration. Almost 70 people consisting of our members, their family and friends arrived for the celebration weekend in this excellent royal location. The Friday gave us superb weather where the guests roamed around the town centre, walked over the bridge to the historic and fascinating Eton and probably enjoyed a few drinks like us relaxing by the river. Unusually the Saturday saw driving rain all day but some managed to brave the wet queue and visit Windsor Castle just a week before the next Royal Wedding! The 39 Club and two Royal weddings this year for the iconic UK destination which is Windsor.
The Sir Christopher Wren Hotel looked after us very well and the Banquet event in the Princess Suite went swimmingly with a very generous amount being raised with the raffle for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, our chosen charity this year. The Hotel is spread around several locations in the centre of town but enjoys a splendid main central location right under the walls of the castle, right on the river next to the pedestrian bridge connecting Eton giving the most wonderful views at breakfast time.
The sunshine was restored on the Sunday. With or without hangovers the group enjoyed the last few hours visiting the Museum, the Victorian railway station or just a stroll or boat trip to admire the most graceful swans I have ever seen in one river location. A sight to behold.
